Kiel rolled over and found the bed empty. He sat up, rubbed the sleep away from his eyes, and threw the sheet back. It had been far too hot to use any blankets, and besides, he loved feeling Eloise’s naked body pressed against his.

He set his bare feet on the cold floor and sighed. New England was in the midst of a heatwave, coupled with high humidity. Kiel hated feeling wet all the time. His eyes adjusted to the dim light coming through the skylights. The moon, wherever it was, added the perfect glow to Eloise’s room.

A swooshing sound caught his attention. He rose and made his way to her deck, thankful the sides were closed in, and no one could see that he was naked except for Eloise and even she didn’t have any clothes on. He leaned against the doorway, watching the paintbrush glide across the canvas.

“You can come sit,” she told him without taking her eyes off her painting.

“How long have you been up?”

Kiel brushed his hand down her long chestnut wavy hair. He smiled at the memory of her riding him, with his hands cupping her breasts until he reached up and pulled the pin from her bun. He marveled at her locks. How long, full, and perfect it was. Once her hair was down, he couldn’t keep his hands out of it.

He tilted her head back and placed a kiss on her lips. His cock sprung to life. As much as it pained him, he ignored it and sat down on the pile of pillows behind her.

“You didn’t answer me,” he reminded her.

“I think it was about three. I couldn’t sleep.”

“Because of me?”

She shook her head slowly, her hair waving against her bare back. “Sometimes I can’t sleep and instead of staring at the ceiling, I get up and paint.”

“What are you working on?” Kiel leaned to the side. The canvas was different shades of blue, some orange, pink, and a hint of yellow.

“I don’t know,” she told him. “This is what I see right now.”

“I think it’s beautiful.”

Eloise turned her head slightly and smiled. “I appreciate you saying so. I think it’s a jumbled mess of nothingness. The vibe is wrong, and I’m tempted to throw it over the railing toward the dumpster.”

Kiel walked the short distance to the other side of the deck, giving him the perfect spot to watch her from. He sat down and gathered the outdoor pillows behind his back to give himself some comfort.

“Please don’t,” he all but begged. “I know you see things differently, and I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, but I think it’s as beautiful as its creator.”

Eloise turned on her stool to face him. She had dabs of paint on her flawless skin. Where some might consider this a turn off, Kiel wasn’t. With her paintbrush in one hand and her palette in the other, she walked toward him. He never took his eyes off her, taking in every painstakingly slow step she took.
